A brave new world
The biggest issue for this election seems to be security. It is definitely the elephant in the left wing’s front room. What should we do? Create language for it. Use the word multilateralism more. Stop talking about negatives (isolationism), this only makes us an ineffective opposition party. Make the case that Democrats can create new, strong ties with countries to tackle this problem together. Terrorism is a problem we all have, and we should all share in solving the problem together. We have to share responsibility of fighting terrorism with other countries. If we don’t we become the terrorists. By taking the multilateral approach there will be more buy-in from other countries, relations will be better, we will get out of debt, etc.
We have to stop talking about the failures and shortcomings of the Republican party and stop assuming that sooner or later they will self-destruct. We have to stop assuming that by just telling people the truth they will vote for Progressives. Instead, we have to have a stronger, more unified vision throughout the party. We have to sell our vision of what the future is going to look like to the public, otherwise, it is going to be more of the same. In short, we need to find ourselves, and not be afraid to say what it is we stand for and what we want.
